Oily skin care is a difficult subject to tackle. On the one hand, a certain amount of oil on your skin healthy and young looking. Natural skin oils are necessary to prevent problems like dry skin. Oily skin is also less prone to develop fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration and freckles.
On the other hand, the skin that is oily attracts dust and dirt on the skin surface and pores excessive oil buildup can lead to problems such as acne breakouts hide. Oily skin leads to the development of larger than normal pores (often mistaken as acne scars), which give the skin a rough appearance. Therefore, because oily skin has some advantages but also disadvantages, a good skin care (especially on the face) is a challenge.
Here are some basic rules for oily skin facial care:
1. Wash your face twice a day, every day with a good skin cleanser. This is the easiest way to get clear skin and prevent blemishes, since dirt is easily attracted to oily skin. Do not wash more than this but, if you do, you will strip too much oil from your skin and that will only get worse. If you wear makeup, be sure to use makeup remover before you wash your face. Wet your face with warm water, clean, then rinse with cold water.
2. After cleaning, use an astringent or acne-fighting cream to balance out the skin to help. This will help prevent pimples and acne problems. Using an astringent, sure it is not an alcohol-based one and use it only once a day, this will strip too much oil from your face. Acne creams can be used twice a day, depending on their strength.
3. Whether or not you need a moisturizer daily to you. If your skin feels too dry after washing and applying an astringent or acne treatment, then a moisturizer would be a good idea. Avoid moisturizers with mineral oils and cocoa butter, instead looking for a lightweight, oil-free version, also called noncomedogenic.
4. Once a week, use a clay mask to help clean deep into your pores. This is a big oily skin treatment, because it will help to clean up extra oil and dead skin cells. Again, be sure to use it only once a week, or your skin will be to increase oil production to compensate.
5. Sunscreen is still important! This is one of the best skin care tips, especially for oily skin care. If you do not have at least SPF 15 in your moisturizer, make sure a sunscreen that is formulated for the face only to be found. Gel versions are best for people with oily skin.
Do not worry, just because you have oily skin does not mean you should stop wearing makeup if desired. Many cosmetics companies have product lines that specifically target people with oily skin. Look for oil-free foundations and loose powders. Using a makeup primer product can help to remote oil and makeup to hold in place for hours. Applying loose powder during the day can help keep your makeup looking fresh while absorbing extra oil from your skin.
